Scaling and Root Planing
Scaling and root planing is a special type of treatment that goes deeper below the gumline to remove contaminated debris and bacteria, most often performed on patients with active periodontitis.
Osseous Surgery
Osseous surgery, also referred to as pocket depth reduction, is usually recommended when non-surgical treatments such as scaling and root planing have failed to recondition the impacted tissue around your teeth.
Soft Tissue Grafting
There are several ways that your gum recession can be treated. If you need more extensive treatment, a gum graft is often recommended. According to the American Academy of Periodontology, this option can repair the wounded areas where the recession has occurred, and it can also help to prevent future infections.
Frenectomy
For dental patients, frenectomies are usually performed when there is overly thick tissue connecting the gumline to the inner lip. A frenectomy by Dr. Lindsay removes the excess tissue so that a patient can enjoy a more aesthetic smile, or, for patients undergoing orthodontic treatment, a frenectomy prepares the gumline for the realignment of the teeth.
Crown Lengthening
Crown lengthening is a surgical procedure that is done when the tooth is too short to provide adequate retention for a restoration (usually a crown).
Impacted Canines
An impacted tooth is one that is "stuck" and unable to erupt through the gums in order to function as intended. The upper eyetooth, otherwise known as the maxillary cuspid, is the second most likely tooth to be impacted. |
